lease.vin

The four numbers
under the monthly.

The desk quotes a lease as one number — the monthly — and keeps the four it was computed from. This page reads them first: money factor, residual, cap cost, term — each line named, each slot posted or dashed, never invented — for any VIN. Free. No account.

An agent desking a lease for you reads this same sheet — what it brings back is the structure you are reading now.

The structure, before the desk quotes a monthly — three steps, one address.

  • 01Paste the VINThe sheet lives at lease.vin/{VIN} — the address is the product. Anonymous, free, no account; the same address answers for leases.vin.
  • 02Read the four numbersEach line named, posted or dashed. The money factor is spoken twice — as the decimal the desk uses and as its APR-equivalent (× 2,400) — so the cost of money is stated in a unit you already know. The residual reads against the five value bands at values.vin, free.
  • 03Carry the structureThe funded product — lease, loan, or the buyout at term’s end — is financing.vin’s act, on its own posted terms. The hand-off is one link and the four numbers travel with it. You are one step from the desk with the desk’s own numbers.

Two of the four move.

The lines that move

negotiated in the open, exactly like a purchase

The cap cost is a purchase price wearing a different name — everything you know about negotiating a price applies, and the desk hopes you don’t know that. The markup inside the money factor is where the desk’s margin on money lives; the base rate is the bank’s, the markup is the conversation.

The lines that don’t

bank-set, sourced, fixed for the term

The residual comes from a residual guide and does not move — a high residual lowers the monthly and raises the buyout, and the sheet posts both faces of that trade. The base rate is set by the captive or bank; the term and mileage are yours to choose, then fixed.

residual · base factor — bank-set, posted

Each line on the sheet says which kind it is — the negotiation happens on the lines that move, in the open, with the arithmetic in view.

Questions with posted answers.

  • Why is the money factor not a dollar slot?

Because it is a rate, not a price. It posts as a decimal and as its APR-equivalent (× 2,400), so the cost of money is stated in the unit the loan side already uses — the sheet performs the multiplication so the desk doesn’t have to be asked to.

  • Can I negotiate a lease?

Two of the four numbers move: the cap cost, exactly as a purchase price moves, and the markup inside the money factor. The residual and the base rate are bank-set. Each line on the sheet says which kind it is.

  • Where do the numbers come from?

The slots fill only from papered figures — a posted residual, a posted factor, your entered cap cost. A slot with no papered figure posts a dash. The value bands the residual is read against are free at values.vin.

  • Is the buyout handled here?

No. A lease buyout is a financing act and financing.vin carries it — the residual on this sheet is the number that buyout starts from. No application is taken here, no credit is pulled here, no lease is originated here.

  • What does it cost?

The sheet posts its own price like every other number — lease.vin fee: $0. Every VIN, every visit, no account.

The structure carries.

The four numbers are not the deal — they are what the deal is computed from. The other addresses read the same seventeen characters.
